Of course, it’s not the first time that a company has tried to turn the horror of keypad controls into something useable. Not too long ago we had the ZeeMote, which used a mini-Bluetooth joystick to control games – the big problem with that approach was that it only worked with games that had the ZeeMote API added into the code. (I actually thought that ZeeMote had gone out of business, but they appear to be alive and well). Even with touchscreens, game controls can be tricky to get right. But I hope that a forward-thinking operator or even one of the bigger publishers runs a campaign were mobile gamers get a free Game Gripper to reward consumer loyalty. After all, gamers are still pretty much the biggest revenue earners on the app stores – it would be nice for them to get something extra. (Thanks to Engadget for the link)
